The 2018 next-generation Audi SQ5 will be provided with Audi's SQ7 48V electric compressor turbocharging technology. The usage of 48v electric systems and electric compressors has become mainstream in a sense. Oliver Hoffman, Audi powertrain cheif, told Autocar, that the 2018 SQ5 could be more powerful than the new Jaguar F-Pace.
The all-new SQ5 will have only one turbocharger. It will work with an electric compressor in order to reduce fuel consumption and diminish turbo lag. The six-cylinder Audi will use a 3.0-liter TDI engine. This is the same engine, that is used by the European SQ5.
The 2018 SQ5 will be more powerful than the current SQ5 plus. It was mentioned, that the new SQ5 could probably have 390 hp. The top speed will likely be 155 mph. The 2018 Audi SQ5 will be launched not earlier than in 2018, as the current standard SQ5 will take a bow in October at the Paris Motor Show.
